On the other hand, Francis took another route. The eldest brother had a passion for soccer and decided to pursue it. He played for several years at the semi-professional level as a midfielder for multiple teams.

The teams he played for include AE Sparti and Aittitos Spaton.

However, Francis’ soccer career was short-lived. Following his stint with Aittitos Spaton, he decided to call it quits and pursue his other passion, music.

After a solid season, he made the NBA the following year, being selected by the New York Knicks in the 2014 NBA Draft.

Thanasis then returned to Europe and played in the Spanish and Greek leagues.

However, Thanasis started his second stint in the NBA in 2019 when he joined the Milwaukee Bucks. He’s currently still with the team and most recently represented his country in the 2023 FIBA World Championship.

As an 18-year-old, Giannis was already garnering interest from Europe’s top teams, such as Barcelona and Anadolu Efes.

However, Giannis decided to declare for the 2013 NBA Draft. The Milwaukee Bucks took a chance on him and selected him with the 15th pick.

Since then, Giannis has risen to superstardom as a two-time MVP and brought the Bucks their first championship since 1971.

Known as the Greek Freak for his otherworldly athleticism, Giannis has become one of the faces of the Nike brand.

After Giannis experienced massive success in the NBA, he moved his parents and younger brothers to Milwaukee.

As a result, Kostas was the first Antetokounmpo brother to play high school and college basketball in the USA. He attended Dominican High School in Wisconsin, leading the program to a state championship during his senior season.

He then joined the University of Dayton’s basketball team.

This ultimately led to his selection by the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2018 NBA Draft. Philadelphia traded him to Dallas on draft night. Following his stint with Dallas, Kostas joined the Los Angeles Lakers.

Since then, he’s also played for ASVEL Villeurbanne, the Chicago Bulls, Fenerbahce, and Panathinaikos.

Alex

Like his older brother Kostas, Alex also played for Dominican High School. He has a successful career and received several offers to play Division 1 NCAA basketball.

Alex decided against this and decided to join UCAM Murcia of the Spanish League straight out of high school.

He declared for the NBA Draft the following year, but unlike his brothers, he went undrafted.

He’s currently still trying to find his way to the NBA, bouncing around the NBA G-League. So far, he’s played for Raptors 905 and the Wisconsin Herd.
